This center will house specialized healthcare providers dedicated to our aging community, including podiatry, occupational therapy, ophthalmology, and audiology. Under Chapman’s leadership, SARH has experienced substantial growth, including consecutive credit upgrades, a remarkable feat given that nearly 50% of hospitals currently operate in the "red." Since his arrival, the hospital has transformed from a financial deficit of $18 million in 2018 to an annual profit averaging $18-25 million annually since 2019. This economic strength is in addition to the hospital's dedicated team garnering several prestigious recognitions, including a 4-Star designation for Excellent Patient Care by Medicare and Medicaid, accolades from U.S. News & World Report for stroke care, kidney failure, and pneumonia, as well as a Geriatric Award for Emergency Department services. The Women’s Choice Awards honored SARH as the Best Hospital in orthopedics, emergency care, heart care, stroke care, and cancer care. In a groundbreaking announcement, Chapman introduced a residency program in partnership with Western University, set to launch in 2025, which aims to onboard 20–25 aspiring physicians annually—a historic development after 117 years.
Foundation President Michelle Stoddard touched on the rich history of women in leadership and how the funds raised will directly benefit community-serving projects. Michelle spoke about goals for a new Maternity Department. This was an inspiring revelation at a time when one in five hospitals are closing service lines starting with Maternity Departments or closing completely. SARH was recently recognized by US News and World Report as Best Maternity Care.
